INTRODUCTION

The Centre for Manufacturing Sciences has been established in the year of 2009 to promote research activities in the area of Design and Manufacturing Engineering. The Centre has experienced, dedicated and provoked faculties with industrial and research background.
Dr.K.Manisekar M.E., Ph.D., Professor and In-charge of centre for manufacturing sciences who has 22 years of teaching and research experience. The centre, as on date has four staff members with one doctoral degree holder and the remaining with their PG qualifications in various disciplines. The center is offering post graduate course in M.E. - Manufacturing Engineering.

The centre has well established Advanced Computing laboratory with the latest advanced licensed software’s like Abaqus, Ansys 10, APM Win Machine, Automation Studio, Cosmos, Catia V5 R10, Esprit, MDT6.3, Nisa, Solid Works, and Solid Cam which make students to have a real time experience in research area.

VISION

To be a world-class center of excellence to build an academic community dedicated to expanding the frontiers of knowledge through research, development, innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration for the benefit of society.

MISSION

To provide, the students of Manufacturing engineering with learning facilities comparable to world class standards in competent with the modern manufacturing technology and manufacturing management techniques.
To provide relevant industrial experience within the academic environment to apply theoretical and practical concepts to improve manufacturing processes and mechanical or manufacturing components.
To serve society through innovation and excellence in teaching and research.
To inculcate engineering ethics among students while encouraging and promoting their leadership qualities.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

The objectives of the Manufacturing Engineering are to produce post graduates whose careers and professional behavior are marked consistently by:
Technical competency in solving engineering problems, consistent with the ethics of the profession, and serving the needs of local, national, and multinational communities and enterprises with concern for social, economic, and environmental constraints.
Advancement in their professional careers, including increased technical or managerial responsibility, and the attainment of promotions and leadership positions
Successful management of engineering projects of varying scope
Effective technical communication and teamwork
A commitment to continuing education

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Accordingly, the Program Outcomes of the Manufacturing Engineering are to educate post graduates, who by the time of graduation will be able to demonstrate:
1.
An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
2.
An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
3.
An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
4.
An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
5.
An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
6.
An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
7.
An ability to communicate effectively
8.
An ability to apply their broad education toward the understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context
9.
A recognition of the need for, and the ability to engage in life-long learning

10.
A knowledge of contemporary issues
11.
An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
12.
An ability to perform services in the form of analysis, design, preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and implementation of work standards, statistical process control systems, production planning and materials control systems, manufacturing and service facilities, operations research models for production and operations, and/or information systems.

 

The staff members have to their credit an excellent number of publications in International/National Journals/Conferences. The current research areas of interest include
Metal forming, Powder Metallurgy and Tribology
Composite Materials
Welding Processes and Metallurgy
