Electrical and Electronics Engineering -

The department of Electrical and Electronics was started in the year of 1994 with the strength of 40 and the intake was increased to 60 at 1995. The Department was accredited by NBA for 3 years in July 2006 and Re-accredited for 3 years in September 2011. In the year of 2014 the Department has been accredited by NBA -Tier 1 (Washington Accord) for Two Years.

Dr. M.Willjuice Iruthayarajan M.E., Ph.D., Professor & Head who has academic experience & Research experience for about 17 years, leads the department efficiently and successfully with 31 staff members to support.
The EEE Department has got sanctioned an additional intake of 120 from this academic year (2011-2012).

The faculties are actively engaged in Researches in the fields of Power System Economics, Power System modeling, Power electronics and Drives, liquid dielectrics, partial discharge, soft computing, controller tuning & Image Processing. The department offers the following courses

1.
B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering
2. M.E High Voltage Engineering

(The only Engineering College offering High Voltage Engineering PG Degree course under the affiliated colleges of Anna University.)

The department has a Centralized computer centre with Pentium processors & software tool like MATLAB, MATHCAD, ETAP & PSCAD. The department also has a Library with reference books, journals & magazines which will motivate the students for effective learning. The department has audio visual aids such as Smart Board & Multi Media Projector which helps the faculty to implement new teaching methodologies.

POs describe the expectation of students to know by the time of graduation from the programme.

1An ability to apply the knowledge of mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering fundamentals to the solution of complex problems in electrical and electronics engineering.

An ability to identify, formulate and analyze the complex electrical and electronics engineering problems by applying first principles of engineering knowledge.

An ability to design a system, component, or process and development of solutions to meet desired needs with economic, environmental, social, health and safety constraints.
4.
An ability to investigate complex electrical and electronics engineering problems by conducting suitable experiment, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesize the solutions.
5.
An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for electrical and electronics engineering practice.
6.
An ability to develop an understanding of contemporary technical and professional issues in the practice of complex electrical and electronics engineering problems in societal context.
7.
An ability to understand and evaluate the sustainability of the solutions of complex electrical and electronics engineering problems in global and environmental contexts.

An ability to practice the profession with ethical responsibilities.

An ability to apply the coordinated effort as an individual or as a part of the team.
