National Engineering College / departments / Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering is established in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students. Presently, it offers under graduate programme in Civil Engineering following own curriculum. The curriculum broadly covers important fields such as Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Construction Materials and Practices, Environmental Engineering and Transportation Engineering. At present, the department is equipped with excellent laboratories such as Surveying Laboratory, Strength of Materials Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Laboratory, Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Civil Engineering Computer aided design and drafting Laboratory, Concrete Laboratory, Highway Engineering Laboratoryand Environmental Engineering Laboratory. The Department has qualified faculty members with excellent academic records.
The department follows technology enabled teaching learning process like Google classroom and classes are well equipped with smart monitors. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to acquire leadership qualities. The Civil Engineering Association(CEA) has been functioning for the benefit of the students. It serves as a platform for students to make technical presentations, gain knowledge about recent advancements and bring together novel ideas and inspires its members to employ in educational and social growth. The department also has Institute of Engineers (students chapter) India (IEI) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) as professional bodies. Our department conducted workshops, seminars and value added courses. Our department has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Federation of all Civil Engineers Association of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and CADD Technologies, Coimbatore for In-plant training, Internship and Placement. The department undertakes a wide range of consultancy services in Structural, Environmental, Survey and Geotechnical fields.
