National Engineering College

NEC, the most prominent landmark of Kovilpatti, has been the crowning glory of this Matchless City of Matches. Its celebrated ‘Son of the Soil’ Thiru.K.Ramasamy transformed the entire social and cultural scenario in and around this small town by establishing the excellent educational institution popularly called “NEC”. By wielding the magical wand of social commitment and generosity, this foresighted philanthropist transformed a strip of barren land into a magnificent academic complex consistently producing infallible engineers of high competence right from its inception in 1984. This much-acclaimed temple of erudition was established under the self-financing scheme sanctioned by the Government of Tamilnadu G.O. No. 939 dated 20.07.1984 by the National Educational and Charitable Trust, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi district.

HOW TO REACH NEC

NEC@kovilpatti is known to all; one reason is that kovilpatti is famous for MATCHES and CANDY, and the other is National Engineering College, fondly known as NEC. It is situated about 60 km north of Tirunelveli. NEC can be reached in about 1 hour by bus from Tirunelveli. Kovilpatti is about 100 km from Madurai. Direct bus services connect NEC to Sivakasi, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Rajapalayam and Sankarankovil. NEC is 10 km from Kovilpatti railway station. The Institute is about a 10-minute drive (7 km) from the Kovilpatti New or Old Bus stand. Town buses, Private taxis, or auto can be availed to reach the Institute.

Admission Process

  1. Contact college reception in the Administrative block.
  2. To get the way to admission hall.
  3. To fill out the admission form.
  4. To submit the filled-in admission form and Original documents to the verifying officer.
  5. Verification of Original documents using check slip by verification officer.
  6. To meet the Principal.
  7. Payment of College fee, Transport fee or Hostel fee.
  8. To meet PS to Principal section for uploading allotment order in DOTE portal.
  9. To meet First-year HOD for further processing.

Documents produced at the time of admission

  1. Provisional allotment order-TNEA 2023(color printout)
  2. 10th marksheet.
  3. 11th and 12th mark sheets.
  4. Transfer certificate and conduct certificate obtained from the institution last studied.
  5. Permanent community certificate for BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/SC/SCA/ST candidates (permanent card or digitally signed e-certificate)
  6. Income certificate for post-matric scholarship (for SC/SCA/ST and SC/SCA converted Christians).
  7. Four copies of the passport-size photograph.
  8. Student Aadhaar card copy.

All the certificates mentioned above, along with two photocopies sets, are to be submitted (except serial number: 7).

Additional documents to be submitted for First Graduate Students

  1. First Graduate Certificate (Minimum Seven members entry should be present in it) and Joint declaration.
  2. If Candidate’s Brother/Sister is pursuing a Degree (mentioned in First Graduate Certificate), then he/she should obtain a Bonafide Certificate from the college (where the Brother/Sister is studying) that he/she has not availed of the First graduate fee concession.
