Chemistry Research Centre

The Chemistry Research Centre of NEC came into being in the year 2007. Under the nonpareil guidance and leadership of Dr.M.A.Neelakandan, the Chemistry Research Centre is a hub of scientific activities and projects exploring the boundless territory of research. The Chemistry department is actively pursuing research embracing both basic and applied areas of chemistry like organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry and Theoretical Chemistry. The Chemistry discipline promotes innovative research activities and consultancy services. Our Chemistry Department is approved as Chemistry Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai. The sponsored projects undertaken by the department include the development of chemical compounds as bifunctional chelators, and inhibitors for insulin mimic activity and anticancer activity. We also concentrate our research work on the contaminations and occurrence of heavy metal ions in drinking and industrial water resources. Another prime area of our research is detecting the heavy metal ions by organic sensor and solar materials.
